ABSTRACT

This chapter examines one exceptional case of a dialogue between parties with a history of enmity. It examines evidence from interviews with the public relations expert who facilitated the dialogue and an interview with one of the participants who played a major role in the dialogue process, as well as the author's own involvement in convening the dialogue. The chapter provides insights into the dialogue experience and suggests practical ideas about the role of the facilitator that might be applicable to the corporate environment. By taking responsibility for genuine dialogues, public relations practitioners can take their role in society to a higher level and make significant contributions to positive social change. International Center for Peace in the Middle East (ICPME) had been working since 1982 to remove barriers to peaceful co-existence via communication, interaction and dialogues between Israelis, Palestinians and Arabs.
