ABSTRACT

Every man knows infallibly that what is done by his conscious will and intention, is to be imputed to him, as the agent or cause; and that whatever is done without his will and intention, cannot be imputed to him with truth. (EAP 31) Will-dependence is not only a necessary condition for responsibility; it is also

a sufficient condition, insofar as the agent is aware of the action – which, according to the no blind agency claim, is always the case. For to will to w, I must have the knowledge that, were my volition successful, then what I would be doing would be wing. Thus awareness of the action is already built in the will to act.
