ABSTRACT
Employment data is useful for determining the interdependencies and linkages of your community to the global economy. An understanding of industrial composition of the local labor market is helpful in making comparisons pertaining to the competitiveness of this labor force within the various national economic sectors. One key tool is the concept of Shift/Share Analysis discussed in this chapter. This tool is quite useful within a Community Asset Assessment Analysis, by determining the dynamics of employment opportunity over time.
