ABSTRACT

The metal of the steel fire rod felt cold in the author's hand, but he knew that it could melt any lock. The white silk of the cloak shimmered as he wrapped it around his shoulders. The metal belt glinted in the sun as it shone on the curved plates of metal which had been welded together as links. Slowly, the hammer started to shrink until it was small enough for him to hold in his hand. Taking hold of the looped, leather lanyard he lifted the hammer and hung it around his neck. The surface of the lake rippled as the breeze drifted through the air over it. When an arrow flashed towards him, he caught it in mid-air. It exploded into razor-sharp fragments of blinding white light that flew across the cave, hitting the beast like tiny barbed arrows of lightning. It felt as if the ground beneath his feet was being ripped apart.
