ABSTRACT

Two hierarchical leaders – the panel head and the project leader – worked in the first innovation cycle. In the second innovation cycle, the panel head was deliberately withdrawn from participation to compare the effects of diminishing leadership. The leadership style of the English team focuses on the efficiency of the meeting. This focus helps in identifying the focus of work for the planned innovation, determining the object of learning for the students, and finalizing the organizational strategies of the planned lesson. The project leader offered alternative pedagogical strategies and affirmed the content knowledge of the planned innovation. The original project was a teacher-initiated project in a Hong Kong elementary school. The goal of the project was to enhance the capabilities of the schools and their teachers by developing the curriculum leadership skills among elementary schoolteachers. The project was exploratory, design-based, and an attempt to incorporate key features from contemporary literature on teacher development and learning.
