ABSTRACT
Before illustrating the phenomenon of hidden youth in Hong Kong from a Social Censure perspective, it is necessary to undertake an in-depth review of the existing literature. The purpose of conducting the literature review is to understand how professionals and scholars view the phenomenon of hidden youth, as well as to determine what services are provided for this youth group, so as to locate the areas under investigation. In order to understand the phenomenon in detail, the literature review will include definitions, the prevalence of the phenomenon, its causes, related research on hidden youth, and available services in Japan, Hong Kong, and other countries respectively. Since the study of this phenomenon first began in Japan, and as the literature from this country is most abundant, a detailed review of the literature will commence with Japan, followed by Hong Kong and other countries.
