ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on seven basic sentence patterns of English. These patterns demonstrate that verbs are powerful elements in the construction of sentences. In this chapter, important grammatical concepts to learn are linking verb, action verb, intransitive verb, transitive verb, adverbial subject complement, predicate adjective, predicate nominative, subject complement, indirect object, direct object, and object complement.
