ABSTRACT
Our game plan for this current chapter is to follow a number of intersecting lines of fl ight :1 Ultimate Frisbee (Ultimate) meets academia in a doctoral project; humour in sport meets humour in academia; ethical self-formation as athlete meets ethical self-formation as an academic. Each of these lines of fl ight takes us to, through, and around the tensions of recognizability as an academic subject.
