ABSTRACT

This rather in-depth chapter places emphasis on mixing approaches, techniques, and tips for saving time during the mixing stage of a project. In live mixing, as opposed to mixing after a multi-track edit has been completed, many techniques remain the same-and certain concepts are identical. Use of artificial reverberation is an important part of this chapter and the use of automated mixing, equalization, and dynamic compression in classical music is also discussed. Mixing to picture is also covered, where the practice of matching the audio perspective to the visual image is explained.
