Abbreviating and Capitalizing

Abbreviating and capitalizing are treated together here because some-

times words are both abbreviated and capitalized. In fact, this is the case

with most nationally accepted abbreviations. Both abbreviation and capi-

talization are also treated briefly in Chapter 3.
