ABSTRACT
Police operations refer to the services provided to citizens and the methods used by police agencies when delivering these services. The police are called upon to do many things. They are the most accessible of all governmental agencies; they operate continuously, 24 h a day in most jurisdictions. Emergency 911 telephone numbers give the public immediate access to the police, and automobile patrols allow the police to respond rapidly to citizen complaints. For these reasons, the public has increasingly come to depend more on the police to solve their problems, regardless of the nature of the problem.
