ABSTRACT

On May 3, 2010, Police Officer Brian Huff responded to a report of shots fired at a vacant home in Detroit, Michigan, at approximately 3:30 am (ODMP, 2010). Officer Huff entered the residence with several other officers. Upon entry, a gunman opened fire. Officer Huff was fatally wounded and four other officers received non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was wounded in a barrage of return gunfire. This is an example of a situation when officers executed a room entry (moving from one location within a structure to another) and were injured by a hostile gunman.
