ABSTRACT

The psychological quality of a work environment should be such that employees feel at ease and new patterns of thinking are accepted. It is where officers are encouraged to improve themselves and where new ways of thinking about problem solving occur ( Zook, 1994 ). In a positive working environment, supervisors tailor the supervisory techniques they use to fit the competence level of each employee. Some employees will need closer supervision than others. Some will respond to one motivational technique, whereas others will respond to a different technique.
