ABSTRACT
The advent of modern crime prevention has its roots in architectural design from the 1950s to 1970s. At that time, architects and urban designers questioned the impact of the physical layout of cities and urban housing on behavior, particularly criminal actions. Changing the physical design of a community, home, or business could affect crime in a variety of ways.
