ABSTRACT

This chapter explains what one should expect while arriving at the moot venue, a reminder of the running order of the moot and questions of etiquette such as dress code and appropriate conduct during the moot. It also include: a reminder about modes of judicial address; timekeeping issues during the moot, and a range of other matters relating to last-minute nerves and problems. A properly designed moot court will be set out in a similar way to a real courtroom with the Bench at one end and the advocates' tables directly facing it. Smart, sober dress is essential when mooting. Black, navy blue or dark grey are the safest colours to wear. Arriving early at the moot venue can be very helpful, especially where it involves a degree of travel. The chapter concludes with advice on speed writing and shortcuts that should prove helpful to during the moot.
