ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a particular emphasis on the question of how to achieve the most effective forms of implementation in the context of programmes operating within partnership arrangements. It outlines some of the main theoretical and applied concepts for successful implementation. The chapter examines the nature of the partnership and collaborative approaches that are characteristic of contemporary crime prevention and the key principles for the effective operation of crime prevention partnerships, including factors that affect success on the ground. Consideration is also given to how to persuade those with the power to control crime to act effectively. The chapter discusses questions about the role of good governance arrangements for effective delivery. It summarizes some of the lessons from the examples and highlights the most important directions for improving the quality of implementation for crime prevention programmes and leveraging the strength of the partnership processes that underlie most crime prevention work.
