ABSTRACT
In the Introduction to this volume ( Chapter 1 ), we quoted an assessment by two Handbook first edition authors (Kottkamp & Rusch, 2009) that what scholars of leadership preparation have produced thus far is like “islands sprinkled across a vast sea” (p. 80). In this closing chapter, we summarize the scholarship discussed in this second Handbook —both what we know and what we need to knowand use that summary to determine if we have continued to produce islands of research or, we hope, more systematic continents of inquiry.
