ABSTRACT

The Institution of Electrical Engineers (IET) Regulations recommend that every consumer's installation should have a means of isolation, a means of overcurrent protection and a means of earth leakage protection. This chapter deals with rooms containing bathtubs, shower basins or areas where showers exist but with tiled floors. The user of the installation should be provided with plans and diagrams showing the location of all equipment, concealed cable routes, distribution and the equi-potential bonding system. The chapter also deals with the installation inside the location and the requirements for bringing in accessories/equipment from outside. It concerts with outdoor lighting such as found on highways, sports stadiums, stately homes, telephone kiosks and town plans. The installation between the origin and any equipment should be inspected and tested after each assembly on site. The designer must provide a comprehensive and detailed plan of the installation which should be fixed on or adjacent to the system distribution board.
