ABSTRACT
Having designed our installation, selected the appropriate materials and equipment, and installed the system, it now remains to put it into service. However, before this happens, the installation must be tested and inspected to ensure that it complies, as far as is practicable, with the IET Regulations. Note the word ‘practicable’; it would be unreasonable, for example, to expect the whole length of a circuit cable to be inspected for defects, as this may mean lifting floorboards, etc.
