ABSTRACT

The word 'philosophy' implies something similar, but restricted to the intellectual sphere, whereas Weltanschauung embraces all sorts of attitudes to the world, including the philosophical. The state of peace is a desideratum, and when a man has found peace with himself and the world it is indeed a noteworthy event. Giordano Bruno's reflections on infinity were not in vain: they represent one of the most important beginnings of modern consciousness. The man whose cosmos hangs in the empyrean is different from one whose mind is illuminated by Kepler's vision. The term 'analytical' derives from the fact that this branch of psychology developed out of the original Freudian psychoanalysis. Materialism and mysticism is a psychological pair of opposites, just like atheism and theism. Analytical psychology is not a Weltanschauung but a science, and as such it provides the building-material or the implements with which a Weltanschauung can be built up or torn down, or else reconstructed.
