ABSTRACT
Apart from the knowledge required to carry out the verification process competently, the person conducting the inspection and test must be in possession of appropriate test instruments.
In order to fulfil the basic requirements for testing to the IET Regulations (BS 7671), the following instruments are needed:
▪ a continuity tester (low ohms) ▪ an insulation resistance tester ▪ a loop impedance tester ▪ a residual current device (RCD) tester ▪ a prospective fault current (PFC) tester
▪ an approved test lamp or voltage indicator ▪ a proving unit.
