Action Research Projects

Set II
WithWilliam Grabe, Fredricka L. Stoller

This chapter introduces six model action research projects related to a subset of the curriculum-design principles and teaching practices. The focal points of these action research projects are strategic-reader training; main idea comprehension; the pre-, during-, and post-reading lesson format; and digital literacy. The chapter describes six model action research projects that highlight different aspects of second language reading instruction, research questions, and action research plans. As part of the action research project, the teacher researcher gains experience writing new types of post-reading questions, which lead to a range of possible outcomes. One valuable result of this action research project is the teacher researcher’s enlarged repertoire of post-reading question types that can be used during reading lessons.
