ABSTRACT

The ultimate and fundamental Dao is the graphocentric Dao. The Dao is understood and taken for granted as the determining principle of the 'high' part of life and thought. The dao implies not only the consonance of the Logos but also the dissonance, which shows the paradoxical ambiguity of dao and the possibility of overcoming the problems of graphocentrism or post-graphocentrism. With respect to onto-cosmology, Dao has commonality with the Logos in the Western context of onto-theology and supports Chinese logo-graphocentrism. It is the Dao perceived from graphocentrism. Thus there is a delicate concurrence between phonocentrism and graphocentrism, and between Logocentrism and Daocentrism. In a certain sense, it is suggested that graphocentrism implies potential of breaking through the boundaries constructed by phonocentrism. The petit and myriad daos are proposed in the sense that they are other than what is provided by graphocentrism.
