ABSTRACT

An early action can save someone’s life, therefore whilst the rst person on the scene is waiting for the medic to arrive, they can commence CPR as soon as possible. The objective for CPR is to ensure exchange of CO2 and oxygen continues in the lungs to avoid causing ‘brain’ death due to lack of oxygen. In addition, CPR will also support ow of blood through the body due to the heart being compressed between the chest and backbone. There are two ways in which CPR can be administered.
