ABSTRACT

The Ramsar Convention is a foremost and well-renowned convention in the area of environmental conservation. The term renewable energy denotes energy derived from ongoing natural processes or resources that are naturally regenerative. The main reason for renewed interest in renewable energy relates first to increased concern over the limit of the non-renewable sources, and second to concern about climate change. Renewables are considered as desirable alternatives because, unlike fossil fuels, the generation of power from renewable sources lead to the emission of undesirable gases, such as sulphur oxides and greenhouse gases. Accordingly, renewable energy is widely seen as a major link in the global transition from a highto a low-carbon economy. Unlike, for example, fossil fuels, of which there is a finite supply, renewable energy is obtained from sources that are essentially inexhaustible as these resources are depleted in the process of energy generation.
