ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the relation between two global forces – digital technologies and feminism – through a local and historically specific perspective. It examines the history of the Central European region and the ASPEKT organization with a focus on the evolution of feminist ideas after the fall of Communism. The chapter aims to illustrate how specific historical and sociopolitical background influences the ways in which they use these new digital tools and media platforms. It argues that when trying to understand what these tools mean to feminists in different corners of the globe will we fully understand their role in the future of social movement.
