ABSTRACT

One of the things the authors' have heard over and over from people who go on to recover from anorexia is that a tipping point arrives when they realise they want something else more than they want anorexia. This chapter encourages patient to begin to be curious and creative about the 'you' beyond anorexia, those sides of patient keen for a chance to be heard and to get some of the goodies from life. If anorexia is still a big feature of his/her identity, the chapter encourages patients to put his/her anorexia aside for now and to be curious about his/her needs, wants and wishes beyond this side of patient. If patients are on the road to recovery, perhaps patient have started to become aware of some longings, or interests, but perhaps engaging with this feels precarious and scary. The chapter also encourages patient to be bold, to be curious and to have a go!.
