ABSTRACT
A Catholic priest in New Jersey, Father OConnor, wrote at least two hit songs in early modern America, Let a Smile be Your Umbrella and Little Grey Home in the West. The latter is how Aimee Semple McPherson chose to describe her residence in Los Angeles that she only visited in between meetings. Aimee's decision to settle down and build a house unto the Lord came about as a result of her first attempt at a vacation. Throughout Aimee's life it would become obvious that things did not work well for her when she had an abundance of time on her hands. Whether it was peering down the forbidden family well and talking to the playmate of her reflection while Minnie was busy attending to household chores, or the recuperation from various illnesses plaguing her later life, time in lavish abundance did not befriend Aimee or serve her well.
