ABSTRACT

By early 1924 Aimee Semple McPherson clearly fit the concept of a collective representation. Tuesday morning, May 18, 1926, Aimee bounded down the parsonage stairs happy as a little child for a morning romp, remembered her personal secretary and member of the family, Emma Schaeffer. She also remembered that Aimee greeted each one in the house with love and kisses which was her usual custom. At noon on Tuesday, Minnie was busy, Roberta in school, and Rolf was on a ranch in Northern California, so Aimee asked Emma Schaeffer to accompany her to Venice Beach. It was another Pentecostal periodical, however, The Tatter Rain Evangel, that best summarized the uniqueness of Aimee's ministry and even mentioned the premonition of her passing: The whole Pentecostal world is shocked at the untimely death of Mrs. Aimee Semple, who was drowned in the Pacific Ocean Mrs. McPherson was a daring swimmer.
