The Arizona Daily Star ran an editorial after Aimee was safely home in Los Angeles. Arizona is breathing more easily as it begins a new week. Aimee Semple McPherson, resurrected from the desert sands of the Mexican border and welcomed home over a path of roses, is safe within the boundaries of her beloved city, Los Angeles. When the town of Douglas woke up to the news on the morning of June 23, 1916, that the famous missing evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson had been resurrected across the border in Agua Prieta and was now safe in their very own Calumet and Arizona Hospital, it seemed too good to be true. Her resurrection would be their resurrection. From the mid to late 1920s things were looking good for the smelter city. Ultimately Aimee Semple McPherson was judged in the court of public opinion. Unlike Douglas, Arizona, its verdict was swift and not favorable.
