ABSTRACT

In the context of design, process can be defined as a series of actions that lead to a particular result. The vernacular design process can be defined as a series of changes that happen naturally through a systematic set of operations that are performed to make something new from what already exists. In this case, natural can be defined as “not forced.” Vernacular design is not particularly concerned with invention, defined as the development of new principles. Rather, it is primarily concerned with a process of innovation, understood as the renewed application of existing principles.
