ABSTRACT

A prejudice is worth looking in some detail, because it is so pervasive, and because it affects so many people in western society and in the world is sex prejudice. Most such prejudice takes the attention of social psychology, and society in general, is anti-women prejudice. The hypothesis is a pervasive devaluation of women in western society has been tested many times, and the evidence does not unequivocally support it. A usage that is becoming current in psychology is that 'sex' is taken to refer to genetic differences, real and supposed and 'gender' to acquired and role differences: to be 'sexist' is to make insufficient distinction. Many investigations and experiments have been done to demonstrate discrimination on the basis of sex. The stereotypes affect judgements of people in a fairly realistic situation. Any prejudice affecting judgements of work, efficiency, etc., in regards to sex shows only interaction with other factors, or in certain circumstances which have not been clearly delineated.
