ABSTRACT

Qualitative analysis, or analysis of words, written or spoken, is referred to in its most basic form as content analysis; and its central task is to understand, interpret, and represent the meaning of what has been said. There are several types of analysis; content analysis is the basic or generic reference, because the people analyzing the content of text or perhaps the spoken word, especially as technology makes it possible to audio record the transmission of information. Depending on perspective, one might even include nonverbal communication. Analysis begins with clarity about the words and ends with interpretation. The concept of evidence is central to qualitative analysis. In essence, qualitative data analysis consists of Intra-transcript analysis; Inter-transcript analysis; Developing a story. Qualitative analysis includes a thick description of every aspect of the study process. Some major issues to consider in qualitative analysis are audience, transferability, confirmability, saturation, completeness, range, divergence, and researcher bias.
