ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts covered in the preceding chapters of the book. The book attempts to help one to think through all the contextual issues related to research endeavors: who has a vested interest in the outcome, the implications of their findings for broader society and for practice in agency settings, more specifically. It also provides an overview of issues to consider when trying developing a research study that involves human subjects: being ethical in all aspects of methodology, and relying on the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics as a guideline for understanding what is and what is not ethical in social work research. The book helps one to understand the difference between hypothesis-driven and question-driven research. It outlines the major advantages and disadvantages of data collection methods. The book looks at the major concepts and steps of qualitative data analysis and quantitative data analysis.
