ABSTRACT

PAS 1192-2:2013 is a specification for information management for the capital/delivery phase of construction projects using Building Information Modelling (BIM). It could be seen as the management layer laid over the skeletal RIBA Plan of Work. While the Plan of Work is a very topical subject, it is only a well guessed assessment of how new work practices are mapped. Paul Morrell, the Government's Chief Construction Adviser of that strategy, also supported and encouraged the RIBA New Plan of Work. A plan of work is an agreed documented instalment plan, which allows parties to have a method of paid milestones, beneficial and understandable to all stakeholders. Soft landings provide leadership, bringing trust and respect to all stakeholders. They set roles and responsibilities so that the client is an active participant, which ensures continuity. Stronger partnerships with the business community, including with SMEs, bring opportunities for educational institutions to enhance the prospects for graduates.
