ABSTRACT

Assessment is a vital part of teach ers’ lives in provid ing inform a tion for pupils, for parents, for teach ers them selves and to provide data for school improve ment. Formative assess ment, or assess ment for learn ing (AFL) and summat ive assess ment, or assess ment of learn ing are essen tial parts of teach ing and assess ment has been a strong theme in previ ous units. Essentially, assess ment of or for learn ing seeks to answer ques tions about how you know and how pupils know about teach ing and learn ing so do not be led into think ing you can leave worry ing about assess ment until after you have mastered teach ing.
