ABSTRACT
In the fantastic universe of oral narration where imagination and creativity operate freely, outlandish events can and often do happen. One character from whom we can expect anything is the trickster, who exercises full autonomy in thought and deed. Trickster’s actions are as outrageous as they are predictable. There are no limits or moral judgments to inhibit him. Individual cultural expressions of the trickster may differ, but as a narrative character and social type he is familiar to audiences throughout the world.
