ABSTRACT

This chapter shows how the knowledge and understanding of pedagogical documentation has evolved. A members of the core team from Doune Nursery were delighted to come together to reflect on the subsequent development of how we made children's early learning visible. A Parent's Guide to Stirling Council's Documentation Approach was written by Marian Kayes, the former Head of Doune Nursery, to share with other families what a documentation approach to early learning can look like for families and their children. Reggio Emilia Approach is an educational philosophy based on the image of the child and of human beings as possessing strong potentials for development and as a subject of rights who learns and grows in the relationships with others. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) declares that children have the right to say what they think should happen when adults are making decisions that affect them, and to have their opinions taken into account.
