ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the concept of 'making learning visible' is that visual images entice children and families. The aim of using these newer technologies is to facilitate conversations about children's enquiry, the extent of their understandings, and the processes, skills and strategies that are being employed in particular learning episodes. Sharron, an educator in Stirling, reflected on the benefit of having a photographer working alongside her. The significance of Brian's photography project became apparent at the 'Making the Joy of Learning Visible' exhibition held at the MacRobert Arts Centre, Stirling, in November 2010. An educator from Aberfoyle Nursery made an additional observation about how the pocket camcorder can be used to boost professional development. The use of these new technologies provides additional, improved and sometimes faster ways of sharing or provoking learning.
