ABSTRACT

This chapter provides the individual learning, collective understanding and knowledge of the development of pedagogical documentation across the Stirling Council area. Nationally, the Scottish Government has pledged to 'improve the lives of young children in Scotland'. The involvement of a local consultant and expert with knowledge and experience of pedagogical documentation, along with Carlina Rinaldi, provided a focus and inspiration for our professional learning and development. Stirling Council received national recognition for the outstanding performance of the early years settings in the national Education Inspections of early learning and for the way in which early years was being developed. The immense capability of children continues to inspire us, and more visible now is the immense capability of adults in their collaborations with children. The impact is that the strategic leadership of early years provision comes from a more generalist, and therefore, 'schools' perspective and values base.
