ABSTRACT
My husband and I were married for a good 20 years before he joined the Navy as a chaplain. A lot of spouses are 18 to early 20s and I really respect them. My husband had the advantage that his father was retired Air Force, so he understood the military environment. However, it was quite the shock for me. I knew nothing coming to it outside of a few times way back in college going to a PX. That was my total experience. I was surprised at how much I didn’t know.
