ABSTRACT

C&A is one of the largest fashion retailers in Brazil. In addition to clothing, the company sells accessories and electronics, including cell phones, MP3 players and digital cameras. C&A in Brazil also provides financial products and services such as: insurance, compound interest bonds, loans to individuals and companies, credit cards and investments and certificates of deposit (CDs) through the Banco Ibi, which like C&A, is part of the Dutch company, Cofra holding AG. The interconnection of national financial markets to a global logic was the result of the movements for liberalization and deregulation of markets, such as the break with the Bretton Woods Systems, implantation of liberal policies in Europe, Japan, the United States (US) and then in Latin American countries. Another factor that widened financial globalization was the liberal policies enacted by Ronald Reagan in the US and Margaret Thatcher in Great Britain in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
