ABSTRACT

There are two main goals when using medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) processing and creative meditations in order to foster mindfulness; start slowly enough so that the brain can develop what it is naturally supposed to do and to start small enough that the dissociative brain can handle 'waking up'. Keeping a client within as much of the window of tolerance as possible can be helpful, often by a general discussion about mindfulness, meditation and the mPFC. By instructing the client to gently touch the spot between their eyes and just feel that spot. Then instruct the client to just focus on the pressure of that spot. The next step is to introduce a light source for the client to see. As the client is becoming more and more competent in mastering guided meditations and focused meditations, they can be instructed to have the host hold onto a large 'crystal ball' that fits in their lap.
