ABSTRACT

One of the challenges of working with trauma and dissociation is to maintain balance in how the client is perceived, how the work with the client progresses, and how the therapist maintains him or herself through the process. The PIESS Chart is a simple way to remember and assess the balance in all areas of the person’s life, to notice where things are in place and strong, and where there are weaknesses that need to be strengthened, so the ‘wheel’ will roll (see Figure 9.1).
