ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book presents the new and groundbreaking knowledge to the next generation of the researchers, advocates, practitioners, coaches, athletic administrators, and the athletes themselves. All of whom are in positions to use this knowledge to bring about the significant and the lasting change. The book provides a fair and the open environment where all women around the globe have the opportunity to pursue one very simple desire and that is to be called 'Coach'. Women in Sports Coaching are timely because in spite of the continued under representation of female coaches around the globe, women's sports participation and popularity are clearly on the rise. The 2012 London summer Olympics marked the first time every country sent a female athlete in its delegation.
