ABSTRACT
As a contributor to this volume, I was asked to clearly articulate “my most important ideas about entrepreneurship”; their origin, and their impact. What a delightful invitation to get – and what a pretentious project to engage in, giving voice to one’s own importance! I have been blessed with a reasonably favorable reception of my scholarship as reflected in citations. More importantly, I have enjoyed receiving occasional communications from young scholars expressing how my work has affected their journey. That’s extremely rewarding. I also think it is fair to say that I have been a not totally negligible part of some important developments within the field of entrepreneurship research. Having said all that, I find it hard to point to any particular ideas of mine and discuss them as “important” in the bigger and longer-term scheme of things. But at least I have been given this chance, and I let others judge the importance.
