chapter  9
Design Principles of Small Homes
ByAvi Friedman
Pages 8

To be efficient, small size dwellings must be very carefully designed, since a minor decision may end up having a large impact. Also, the reduced space can put the occupants in close proximity to each other and a feeling of crowding ensues. Light, boundaries, circulation, choice of materials and furnishings are some of the tools that can be used by designers to resolve challenges and expand spatial perception. Therefore, a good design should not only be versatile and efficient, but avoid simplicity and dullness.
