ABSTRACT

In factor analysis the original matrix of observed vari ables is estim ated or reproduced from two other matrices: the factor pattern and the factor scores. Previous chapters have dealt with solving for factor patterns under various restric tions so that a unique solu tion may be found. Given the data and factor pattern, it is possible to calcu late or estim ate the factor scores, that is, the scores for each of the N indi vidu als on the f factors.
