ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in this book. Climate change is one of the biggest and most ambiguous challenges for the world, bringing together science, politics, economics and people who are directly influenced by its consequences. In Russia the climate change topic becomes more complicated, since according to the most recent data the country is extremely vulnerable to the effects of climate change but also finds itself amongst the largest greenhouse gas (GHG) emitters in the world. Russia earned its high status of being one of the biggest contributors to climate change due to the fact that its economy heavily relies on the extraction and export of fossil fuels and in general the Russian economy is extremely carbon intensive. The Russian media system still is in a state of great dependency on the government and often has to play by its rules and adjust its content, or pay the price.
