ABSTRACT

The Yes Men are a "culture jamming" group, comprised of Jacques and Igor Vamos, whose aim is to re-articulate the perception of and issues around institutions in order to enact change. The conversation that follows is between Victor Peterson II of the Center for Arts Politics and Public Policy at New York University and Jacques Servin of The Yes Men and the Yes Lab. Humor is powerful, and the momentary deception we engage in is just there to add to the humor of the action, to make journalists laugh. Drawing on the work of Yes Lab and the Creative Activism Series and the Institute's ongoing work with political artists and activists from the Americas, the Critical Tactics Lab's mission is to promote critical reflection about social movements and political activism—their strategies and tactics as well as the ways these are arrived at.
